As Hurricane Milton continues to intensify and threaten Central Florida, Disney Cruise Line has made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming October 11th sailing of the Disney Wish. The cruise was originally scheduled to depart on Friay from Port Canaveral in Florida.
Safety Concerns Prompt Cancellation
In a message sent to affected guests, Disney Cruise Line cited the forecasted weather conditions and potential impact on port operations as the primary reasons for the cancellation. With the safety and well-being of guests and crew members as their top priority, DCL determined that proceeding with the sailing would be inadvisable.
Additionally, Orlando International Airport (MCO) has suspended operations for commercial flights beginning Wednesday at 8:00am. This would have made it difficult, if not impossible, for many passengers to reach nearby Port Canaveral for Friday’s sailing.
Affected Guests to Receive Refunds and Future Cruise Discounts
To compensate for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation, Disney Cruise Line is offering affected guests a full refund in their original form of payment. Moreover, as a gesture of appreciation for their understanding during this challenging situation, each guest will also receive a 20% future cruise discount on their voyage fare.
How to Redeem the Discount
To take advantage of the 20% future cruise discount, affected guests must contact Disney Cruise Line on or after October 15, 2024. This grace period allows ample time for the storm to pass and for normal operations to resume.
Looking Ahead
While the cancellation of the Disney Wish sailing is undoubtedly disappointing for many eager travelers, Disney Cruise Line’s proactive decision prioritizes the safety of all involved. As the company continues to monitor the situation closely, they remain committed to providing magical and memorable experiences for their guests in the near future.
