At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, made an exciting announcement for Disney Cruise Line enthusiasts. On Saturday, he revealed that Disney’s award-winning cruise fleet will soon welcome four new ships, expanding its current fleet of five and its four ships already in development. These new additions result in Disney Cruise Line expanding to a total of 13 ships.
Disney Cruise Line Expands with Four New Ships: What to Expect
Josh D’Amaro shared his excitement about the expansion at the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase. “Disney Cruise Line is consistently the top-rated cruise line for families because it offers something for everyone. Expanding our fleet gives more people, in more parts of the world, the opportunity to experience a vacation at sea like only Disney can provide,” he said. This expansion reflects Disney’s commitment to providing exceptional vacation experiences at sea.
A New Era of Disney Cruising
The new ships will be delivered between 2027 and 2031. While specific details about the ship names, designs, and itineraries are still in development, the addition of these ships promises to enhance Disney Cruise Line’s reputation as a leader in family cruising.
Strengthening Disney Cruise Line’s Leadership
Disney emphasized the significance of this expansion. “Disney Cruise Line is a shining example of the diversity and breadth of experiences that make up the Disney Experiences portfolio – bringing together our signature Disney service, storytelling, and innovation. Our growing fleet will further strengthen Disney Cruise Line’s position as a leader in family cruising.”
Disney Cruise Line continues to be one of Disney Experiences’ fastest-growing businesses, boasting high guest satisfaction and strong demand. In Q2 2024, the cruise line achieved a remarkable 97% occupancy across its five ships, underscoring its popularity and the quality of its offerings.
Recent Announcements and New Adventures
The fleet expansion announcement builds on a series of recent exciting developments for Disney Cruise Line. In July, Disney and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) revealed a new agreement to bring year-round Disney cruise vacations to Japan. The first cruises are expected to start by early 2029.
In June, Disney Cruise Line introduced Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, a new destination on the island of Eleuthera, The Bahamas. This addition promises to enhance the Caribbean cruising experience with a unique Disney touch.
Moreover, last week, Disney unveiled new details about the Disney Destiny, set to sail in November 2025. A highlight of the new offerings is the Broadway-style stage show “Disney Hercules,” which will debut onboard the Disney Destiny.
Fans at D23 also got a peek at “Disney The Tale of Moana,” a new show on the Disney Treasure. This production will bring Moana’s epic adventure to life. It features an impressive fifteen-foot-tall puppet of Te Kā, the fiery lava-wielding foe. This marks the largest puppet ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show.
Disney Cruise Line Expanding: Looking Ahead
With these exciting new additions and developments, Disney Cruise Line continues to set the standard for family-friendly cruising. As the fleet expands and new experiences unfold, Disney fans can look forward to even more magical vacations at sea.
