Disney has filed a permit for the construction of the new villains-themed show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, set to debut in the summer of 2025. The permit, filed with Orange County, Florida, lists “General Construction” as the work to be done at the park.
Show to Replace Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
The new show, rumored to be called “Forces of Evil”, will replace the current Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy in the park’s Sunset Showcase theater. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy is set to close on October 7, 2024 to make way for the villains show.
Details on the New Villains Show
Disney first announced the new villains show earlier this month. The show will take place in the “mysterious, reflective realm of the magic mirror” and feature appearances by villains like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. Disney Live Entertainment is developing the show, which will include musical numbers performed by the villains.
Part of Larger Villains Push at Disney World
The new show is part of a larger villains push at Walt Disney World, ahead of the opening of a new villains-themed land at Magic Kingdom. The land was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo last month and is currently in development by Walt Disney Imagineering.
With the villains show filing and the Magic Kingdom expansion, it’s clear Disney sees its iconic rogues as a major part of its future theme park plans. The villains have always been popular with guests, and these new projects will give fans even more opportunities to engage with some of Disney’s most notorious characters.
