Walt Disney World is seeking feedback from guests on a range of topics through recent surveys, as they often do. Some recent ones now include Disney surveying the impact of other guests’ behavior on the park experience and opinions on the new CommuniCore Hall facility. The surveys aim to gauge visitor sentiment and gather insights to shape future park experiences.
Guest Behavior Concerns
One notable survey topic asks if the conduct of fellow park-goers negatively affected the guest’s visit to Walt Disney World. While Disney maintains a family-friendly atmosphere, there have been sporadic incidents over the years that required intervention. In recent times, the number of publicized incidents has seemed to increase dramatically. Some have pointed to the prevalence of alcohol in the parks as a prime reason. Others would argue that this is simply a result of the ease with which bad behavior can be captured and shared. As anyone who frequents social media knows, these incidents spread like wildfire across the internet.
Less-extreme guest actions can also be a source of stress, such as line cutting or perceived obnoxious behavior. Whether Disney is trying to identify any specific behavior or trend is anyone’s guess, but as park demand begins to moderate, they likely want to understand any and all reasons that may impact guest perception of the experience.
Disney Surveying About CommuniCore Hall
Another key survey area focuses on CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, the multi-purpose facility that debuted in EPCOT earlier this year. Since its opening, the hall has faced significant criticism from guests.
Many have likened the bland, sparsely decorated interior to a “college cafeteria” rather than an engaging Disney space. During festivals, CommuniCore Hall serves as an event venue, but its utilization has left much to be desired according to public opinion. During the current EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, the space houses a merchandise shop and festival food booth. Additionally, the outdoor stage area has been panned for disrupting the calmer vibe of World Celebration Gardens.
Through the surveys, Disney is asking guests for their thoughts on how the hall is being used for festival offerings. Alongside this, questions about guests’ awareness of what is offered inside the hall and in the plaza are being posed.
Survey Feedback Shapes the Future
While it’s easy to poke fun at Disney for asking these questions, it’s important to note that soliciting feedback is one of the first steps into making adjustments. We have seen this with recent changes such as TRON Lightcycle Run dropping its virtual queue. And it wasn’t too long ago that Disney Enchantment and Harmonious were ditched due to poor guest feedback. While Disney probably should have known better with CommuniCore Hall, better late than never.
Hopefully they start surveying about the lighting issues at EPCOT.
