Disney Suspends New Magic Kingdom Park Reservations for Friday in Uncertainty of Hurricane Milton Impact

As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, Disney World takes precautionary measures to ensure guest safety. The theme park giant has suspended new Magic Kingdom park reservations for Friday, October 11, 2024, due to the uncertain impact of the storm.

Storm Preparation at the Most Magical Place on Earth

Disney World is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton’s path as it barrels towards Florida. With the strength and path of Milton still being somewhat in flux, Disney is taking steps to manage the potential impact. One method they use is limiting park reservations, which they’ve already done to minimize crowds on Wednesday. Now, Magic Kingdom, the most popular park in the world, is seeing the same capacity control measures. Guests, regardless of ticket type, cannot currently make new Magic Kingdom park reservations for Friday. This includes both Annual Passholders and ticket holders.

Gusts should note that the Park Hopping privilege, depending on ticket, allows hopping to Magic Kingdom if they have visited another park on that day.

Earlier today, Walt Disney World announced that the parks would close tomorrow (Wednesday) in the early afternoon. Additionally, the theme parks are expected to remain closed on Thursday, October 10th. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for Thursday has been cancelled.

Current Reservations Remain Valid

Guests with existing reservations for Friday should note that their plans remain valid. However, Disney advises all visitors to stay informed about potential changes as the situation evolves. Park hours could still be adjusted, up to and including remaining closed past Thursday.

Potential for Further Adjustments

Walt Disney World may implement additional measures as Hurricane Milton’s trajectory and impact becomes clearer. These could include:

  • Modifying park hours
  • Canceling select events or experiences
  • Closing certain attractions or areas

Visitors to Walt Disney World, and the Orlando area as a whole, are encouraged to stay informed, and should:

  • Check the official Disney World website regularly
  • Monitor local weather reports
  • Follow Disney Parks’ social media channels for real-time updates

Disney’s Hurricane Policy

Disney World has a comprehensive hurricane policy in place. Walt Disney World is waiving all change and cancellation fees for guests with resort reservations this week, and also waiving penalties for missed dining and pre-paid reservations.
