On October 1, 2024, French fashion brand Coperni became the first to hold a Fashion Week show at Disneyland Paris. The Spring Summer 2025 Collection, designed by Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, featured elements inspired by classic Disney characters and stories, such as ruffles, bows, fringe, and Mickey Mouse heels.
Disneyland Paris closed early to host the show, ironically on the day that was the park’s launch of Halloween festivities. As such, the newly announced additions to the Disney Electrical Sky Parade would not be performed.
Designers’ Childhood Connection to Disney
Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, the designers behind Coperni, have expressed that Disney played a significant role in their childhood. They stated, “Disney’s fairytales and characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Ariel from ‘The Little Mermaid’, Snow White, Cinderella, and Maleficent were our guides through the complex landscape of human emotions — friendship, love, fear, courage, transformation.”
Collection Inspired by Disney Animation Classics
The Coperni Spring Summer 2025 Collection incorporated reinterpreted symbols from various Walt Disney Animation Studios films. These included the apple from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” the transformative ball gowns in “Cinderella,” the enchanted rose from “Beauty and the Beast,” and elements from the aquatic world in “The Little Mermaid.”
One such item – an $820 Mickey Mouse Swipe Bag – can be purchased from Coperni.
Show Structure and Themes
The fashion show took place with Sleeping Beauty Castle as the backdrop and was divided into three acts:
- Princes and Princesses
- Rebellious Teenagers
- Powerful Heroes and Villains
These acts were intended to represent the journey and evolution from childhood to adulthood, highlighting the different roles individuals may embody throughout their lives.
The Coperni Fashion Show at Disneyland Paris showcased a collection that drew inspiration from classic Disney stories and characters, reflecting the designers’ personal connection to these tales from their childhood. The event marked a significant milestone as the first Fashion Week show to be held at the Disneyland Paris theme park.
