The beloved Disneyland Railroad is set to make its grand return on Friday, October 25. After a nearly 3-month refurbishment, guests will once again be able to enjoy a scenic journey around the park.
Refurbishment Details
The railroad underwent some noticeable improvements during its closure. These upgrades included the installation of some new sections of track. Extensive work has also been taking place at the New Orleans Square Station. Initially, only the New Orleans Square Station was closed due to construction for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Haunted Mansion. However, on August 5, the entire railroad system shut down for further enhancements.

Sharp-eyed visitors recently spotted the train testing in the park, hinting at its imminent return. Disney has now confirmed the reopening date, which coincides with the debut of the newly-reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
The return of the Disneyland Railroad marks an exciting moment for park-goers. This classic attraction offers a unique way to experience the magic of Disneyland, providing both transportation and entertainment. The Disneyland Railroad
The Disneyland Railroad, a beloved attraction that has been a part of the park since its opening in 1955, offers guests a scenic journey around Disneyland. This 3-foot narrow-gauge heritage railroad encircles the majority of the park, covering a 1.2-mile route with stops at four different stations: Main Street, U.S.A., New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland. The full grand circle tour takes about 18-20 minutes, depending on the number of trains running, and provides visitors with a unique perspective of the park’s various lands.
Walt Disney’s passion for trains is evident in the meticulous design and operation of the Disneyland Railroad. The attraction features five steam locomotives, including two built by WED Enterprises and three historic engines originally constructed by Baldwin Locomotive Works. Along the journey, guests can enjoy views of the Rivers of America, pass through tunnels, and experience the Grand Canyon and Primeval World dioramas. These immersive displays, located between the Tomorrowland and Main Street, U.S.A. stations, showcase animatronic wildlife and dinosaurs, adding an educational element to the nostalgic train ride.
