From Critter Country to Bayou Country
Critter Country, a beloved Disneyland land since 1988, is undergoing a significant change. The area will be renamed Bayou Country on November 15, 2024, coinciding with the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
This transformation extends beyond just a name change. The entire area is being reimagined to complement the new attraction and expand the New Orleans-inspired theming.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The centerpiece of Bayou Country will be Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, replacing the former Splash Mountain ride. This new attraction brings Princess Tiana’s story to life in an exciting and immersive way.
Guests will join Princess Tiana and Louis, the jazz-loving alligator, on a musical journey through the bayou. The ride promises to feature original music, familiar songs, and intricate details that capture the spirit of New Orleans. Magic Key holders will have preview opportunities to ride the attraction ahead of its November 15th opening.
More Than Just a Ride
Bayou Country isn’t just about one attraction. The area will include:
- Reimagined merchandise locations like Ray’s Berets and Louis’ Critter Club
- Hungry Bear Restaurant becoming Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree with Country Bear Jamboree theming
- Enhanced nighttime experiences with firefly effects

These changes aim to create a cohesive, immersive experience that expands on the New Orleans Square theming while honoring some of the area’s previous attractions.
The new Bayou Country costumes are just the beginning of this exciting transformation. As November approaches, Disney fans can look forward to more sneak peeks of what promises to be a lively and enchanting addition to Disneyland Resort.
