Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Cancelled on Disney+ After Two Seasons

Disney has decided to end “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” after two seasons. The animated series, which debuted in February 2023, follows the adventures of 13-year-old genius Lunella Lafayette and her dinosaur companion.

The show centers on Lunella, who accidentally brings a T-Rex named Devil Dinosaur to present-day New York City through a time vortex. Together, they protect the Lower East Side from various threats. Executive produced by Laurence Fishburne, who also voiced The Beyonder, the series aimed to bring a fresh perspective to Marvel’s animated offerings.

Disney California Adventure Park offered a meet-and-greet experience with Moon Girl. The meet-and-greet took place in front of a New York-style apartment backdrop, featuring artwork of Devil Dinosaur and a graffiti-style logo. This character interaction brings the animated series to life, allowing fans to come face-to-face with the brilliant young hero.

Critical Acclaim

Despite its cancellation, “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” received high praise from critics. The show boasts a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the only Marvel Studios project to achieve this feat.

While the main run of the show has concluded, fans can look forward to additional episodes. These final installments are set to air in early 2025, providing closure to the series.

The show’s creators and cast have expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to work on the project. Director Samantha S. Lee shared her love for the show and its crew on social media. Storyboard artists also chimed in, with Sixiao Tang calling it a special experience and Jules Bridgers praising the hard work of the team.

Where to Watch

For those who want to catch up on the series, both seasons of “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” are available to stream on Disney+.

While the cancellation may disappoint fans, the show’s legacy as a critically acclaimed Marvel animated series remains intact. Its unique blend of youthful energy and Marvel storytelling has left a mark on the superhero genre.
