The opening day Magic Kingdom attraction heavily updates a controversial scene of Peter Pan’s Flight that depicts a Native American tribe known as the Never Land Tribe.
Peter Pan’s Flight Never Land Tribe Scene Updated
The re-imagined scene now focuses on Tiger Lily and her great-grandmother. According to Disney, “the scene features the Never Land Tribe’s harvest celebration, with Tiger Lily performing by the fire with her great-grandmother.”
The scene previously depicted the Never Land Tribe with exaggerated features. This lead to concerns for cultural sensitivity in the depiction of Native Americans. The scene has been under scrutiny and subject to replacement for several years.
The attraction closed for refurbishment with little advanced notice back in July. Disney did not release details of work to be performed.
