Space 220 at EPCOT Closing for Two-Day Refurbishment and Updates

Space 220 Restaurant and its accompanying lounge will temporarily close on April 10th and 11th, 2025. The popular space-themed dining experience will undergo quick updates during this brief refurbishment period. The restaurant will also close earlier in the evening in the days prior.

Last-Minute Announcement

Patina Restaurant Group, the operators of Space 220, gave guests short notice about the upcoming closure. Reservation holders received cancellation notifications just within the last week.

Initially, reservations were being cancelled starting April 7th as guests with reservations received cancellation notices. This occurred due to the restaurant closing earlier than initially scheduled, at 7:00pm instead of 9:00pm.

The short refresh is mainly to redo flooring at the ‘base station’, the initial space where guests enter prior to taking the space elevator. That space has been stripped of seating, host stand, baseboards, and pretty much any element adjacent to the floor.

Impact on Existing Reservations

All guests holding reservations for April 10th and 11th must find alternative dining options. Disney’s reservation system automatically cancels affected bookings.

Notification emails include information about the closure and cancellation policy. Guests do not need to take any action regarding their canceled reservations.

Those affected may want to check other EPCOT dining locations. Popular alternatives include Coral Reef Restaurant, Garden Grill, and Le Cellier Steakhouse.

About Space 220

Space 220 continues to be one of the most sought-after dining experiences at Walt Disney World. The restaurant simulates dining 220 miles above Earth on the Centauri Space Station.

After boarding the space elevator, guests enter a dining room with panoramic views of Earth. The windows display a rotating day-to-night cycle with passing spacecraft and astronauts.

The restaurant offers prix-fixe menus for both lunch and dinner service. Meanwhile, the lounge provides à la carte options alongside specialty cocktails and mocktails.

Reopening Schedule

Space 220 will welcome guests again starting April 12th, 2025. The restaurant will resume normal operating hours and reservation availability. Guests hoping to secure post-refurbishment reservations should check Disney’s website. The lounge will also reopen on April 12th with its limited walk-up availability.
