In response to the impending threat of Hurricane Milton, Walt Disney World has issued a statement. The resort is monitoring the storm to address the potential impact of this severe weather event. Since the announcement was published around 1:40pm, the storm was upgraded to hurricane status with the 2:00pm update.
From the Walt Disney World website:
Monitoring Tropical Storm Milton
Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.
Current Impacts of Hurricane Milton
While Walt Disney World says they are operating under normal conditions, there have been a couple changes made already. First, hotel room bookings have been restricted during the week when Milton is expected to make impact. Second, park reservations are blocked out for all guests this coming Wednesday, October 9th. Note that this does not impact guests who already hold park reservations.
That being said, Walt Disney World has not announced any closures or cancellations. However, those are likely to come tomorrow and Tuesday as the storm’s path and strength become more certain. If Milton continues as forecast, significant impacts to park operations are to be expected on Wednesday.
Disney World Commitment to Safety
Walt Disney World remains committed to maintaining a safe environment. The resort’s leadership emphasizes that all decisions are made with guest safety as the top priority. They urge visitors to stay informed and follow any instructions provided by resort staff.
As Hurricane Milton progresses, Walt Disney World will continue to provide updates. Guests are encouraged to check official communication channels regularly for the latest information. The resort appreciates the cooperation and understanding of all guests during this challenging time.
